Complex mass claims: Insights from judges across Europe – part II

Machteld de Monchy, lawyer De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek
and
Till Schreiber, managing director CDC Cartel Damage Claims Consulting

Given the great success of the webinar we are delighted to announce a follow-up session.

Follow-on litigation often evolves into complex mass litigation with many procedural and practical issues such as multiple claimants, parallel actions and timelines as well as lengthy legal and economic submissions. It may take years to resolve all of the issues that arise. Such proceedings can not only be burdensome for the parties, but also for the judges.

How can a judge or a panel of judges navigate through this complex multi-party litigation and steer the debate towards a meaningful solution?

Machteld de Monchy, partner at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and Till Schreiber, managing director of CDC cartel damages claims, will speak with 4 prominent judges from multiple jurisdictions who are dealing with complex mass claims in the field of competition law, but also other areas such as investor relations and consumer protection.

In an interview format, Peter Roth, President of the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, Mieke Dudok van Heel, judge at the District Court of Amsterdam, Fabian Reuschle, judge at the Stuttgart Regional Court and Maria Arantzazu Ortiz González, judge at the appeal court of Mallorca, will provide their insights and views on how to deal with the challenges of mass claims in their respective jurisdictions.
