Paul de Bijl

Dr. Paul de Bijl is an economist in the field of competition, regulation, the digital economy and public policy. Paul is owner/principal of Radicand Economics (economic consulting and expertise), associate digital strategist at Ngrane (design of digital platforms and digital experiences), and part-time lecturer at Utrecht University. He also gives executive courses on digital platform business models, strategy in regulated markets, and economic policy.

A recent publication, with Nicolai van Gorp, is the report “Digital gatekeepers: Assessing exclusionary conduct”, commissioned by the Ministry of Economics Affairs and Climate Policy. It provides insight into the nature of competition in digital markets and into the factors that determine when digital platforms have a gatekeeper position. These insights have been used to further shape the Dutch position on modernising competition policy in relation to digital platforms.
